Continuing Competence

Next month the CPD regime will be no more and we will instead be required by the SRA to ensure our own ‘continuing competence’. We’re sure that you have all been bombarded with training and emails from various sources about this but for those of you still unsure what it means or how you will achieve such a high standard along with everything else that we have to do, we’re here to help!

As you will all know, we run seminars and events for our members nearly every month. Going forward, we are going to plan those events to try to help you meet the SRA’s new Competence Statement. This will include knowledge based events aimed at different practice areas, seminars focused on developing skills and, of course, our parties for your networking (which we are sure fits into A2B and A3C if you’re wondering!).

So, the answer to what you need to do to ensure you meet the new standard is easy!

  1. Keep an eye out for our flyers or emails for events. Each of these will now say which of the continuing competences the event should help you meet. All you have to do is sign up, come along, and then complete your records accordingly.
  2. Let us know if there are any competences that you want to address and we will see if we can help.  We plan our events up to 6 months in advance and are always looking for new ideas, so if there is something that we can help members with, we are always keen to know

In the meantime, put dates in your diary for our November talk, covering everything you wanted to know about dealing with the Land Registry (24 November 2016) and our Christmas party (7 December 2016) – more details of both to follow soon.

As always, please do have a chat with any of us at our events if you have any other ideas or want to discuss what we can help with.
